The Good Shepherd Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to human, animal and environmental health. Our Save the Guava Campaign was formed in response to the biocontrol threat against the strawberry guava, and has helped organize thousands of residents in opposition to the insect release.
The Foundation owns a 67-acre Animal Sanctuary and Nature Preserve on the Big Island, which has a beautiful mixed forest of native and introduced trees, including thousands of strawberry guava trees that grace our Sanctuary with their beauty, and provide wood and delicious, nutritious fruit for our human and animal residents and visitors.
